Easy Grain-Free Apple Crisp: This recipe is among my favorite dessert. It’s gooey on the inside, and tender but crisp on top. It’s made with easy to find ingredients, like almond meal, old-fashioned oats, pecans, honey, and of course, lots of more apples. This recipe happened to be my favorite apple crisp, and it is healthy and gluten-free.
This crisp turned out perfect for me when I made it a few years ago, but I’ve heard that it didn’t turn out as well for some of you.
Apple Crisp grain-free apple is one of my favorite desserts to bake because it’s so yummy and simple to make. It contains all the great of apple pie without the hassle of a pie crust!
This recipe is even better for you as it contains least or fewer calories and far less sugar.
Note: if you’ are used to taking a lot of sugar, this recipe will probably not suit your palate because this is a sugar-free, dairy-free, paleo recipe; it is not a traditional apple recipe.
One faster note on the apples: because I try to go as low-sugar as possible, I decided to use Granny Smith apples for this recipe. While the apple crisp isn’t as juicy as when made with other apples, it’s truly something I enjoy guilt-free.
If you like a juicier apple crisp (and who doesn’t), you can use your favorite Cortland, Macintosh, Gala, or whatever apples you prefer for baking.
How To Make Easy Grain-Free Apple Crisp
MAKE IT VEGAN: In the topping of this recipes, use non-dairy yogurt and coconut oil in place of the butter. In the filling, use maple syrup instead of honey.
MAKE IT NUT FREE: To make this recipe nut-free, remove the walnuts and use about ¾ cup whole wheat flour and ¾ cup oats instead of the almond meal and oats specified above. It will no longer be gluten-free. If you are thinking of how to keep it gluten-free, then try to replace the almond meal with certified gluten-free oat flour or gluten-free all-purpose flour.
MAKE IT DAIRY FREE: Use coconut oil and non-dairy yogurt in place of the butter.
