This incredibly tasty German cucumber salad is a healthy side dish, made with fresh crunchy cucumbers, red onion, simple sour cream, and vinegar, and It makes a perfect side dish for any all hot summer long. Cucumbers are popular green garden vegetables that is eating all over the world and I use to eat them a lot when ever I want to lose weight. I like adding it to meal, salad, or making juice with it. Sometimes, I eat it that way.
What Type of Cucumber to Use
There are varieties of cucumbers, which can be classified into three groups; pickling cucumbers, specialty cucumbers and slicing cucumber. For these recipes, I used English cucumber, but you can use any type of cucumber of your choice. If the cucumber you are using have lots of seeds inside, try to remove them to prevent the salad from getting watery. Although this method is not that necessary, and If you are using smaller cucumbers, you don’t have scrape them.
Tools To Use
To make the cucumber salad, you’ll need bowl and a kitchen knife. I use the knife to slice it round for easy munching.
To serve the salad, you’ll need salad plate or any bowl of you choice.
How to make cucumber salad with sour cream:
Cucumber have a good amount of water and are very low in calories. I can’t even visualize anything that is close to it’s water content. Not only do they have enough juicy water, the cucumber are packed with lots of health benefits.
To eat these cucumber as a snack, just slice it the way you want, chew and swallow everything. Some people peal the back before eating it but is up to you, how you want to consume it.
If you buy these from any supermarket or shop, try to wash them very well before attempting to munch on them.
Another way to enjoy these cucumber nutrient is to combine them with other fruits, blend and strain them to get the very delicious juicy and soluble fiber. You can add it to your meal as well.
Ingredients For Making cucumber salad
- 2 English cucumbers
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons fresh dill
- 1 teaspoon sugar substitute
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Direction for Making Cucumber Salad
1. Pour all the dressing ingredients in a bowl, and mix them together. After combing them, Set it aside.
2. Then wash and slice the cucumbers the way you want it.
3. Put the cucumbers in a bowl and add the dressing ingredients. Mix everything very well.
4. Stir everything together and serve immediately as a meal or side dish!

Note:
You can use onions and garlic for this salad recipe. Though is not a must but optional. I personally enjoy a hint of garlic in the dressing for a change of taste. Onions is also good for eye cleansing.
You can use fresh or frozen dill. Dried dill won’t work that much for these recipe. Chives can serve as your next option if you can’t find dill. I sometimes substitute sour cream with plain Greek yogurt.

Ingredients
- 2 English cucumbers
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 teaspoons fresh dill
- 1 teaspoon sugar substitute
- 1 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
- Line a baking sheet with a tea towel.
- Thinly slice the cucumbers and lay on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with the salt.
- Let sit for 30 minutes at room temperature to allow the cucumbers to release their water.
- Pat cucumbers dry and add to a large mixing bowl with the garlic.
- Combine together the sour cream, vinegar, dill, sugar substitute, and pepper in a small bowl.
- Pour the dressing mixture over the cucumbers and mix together.
- Serve immediately as a side dish or with any meal of your choice.
